An independent comparison of the guided trips sold from Riyadh to Jebel Fihrayn, the escarpment better known as the Edge of the World. We compare tour listings, official visitor information and recent traveller feedback. We do not operate or personally conduct these tours, hold no bookings and run no vehicles. Why this site exists
Search for this cliff and you get two kinds of page. Operator sites selling one tour as though it were the only one, and personal accounts of a single visit written by somebody who booked whatever came up first. Neither tells you that the six listings sold from Riyadh differ by a factor of nearly three in how long they leave you on the rim.
Nor do they separate the numbers. Half the listings advertise a 1,131-metre cliff; that is the elevation above sea level, while the face itself drops around 300 metres. One listing carries the Edge of the World name in its URL and goes to the Red Sand Dunes on the other side of the city. Putting those facts next to the price is the whole job of this site.
Where the facts come from
Tour prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions, meeting points, published itineraries and age restrictions are read off each operator's own listing on the date shown on the page, in US dollars. Every tour page carries the same fields in the same order. Tour listings checked: August 2026.
Site facts — distance from Riyadh, elevation, road conditions, the absence of an entry fee, facilities and seasonal temperatures — are checked against Saudi tourism sources and recent first-hand visitor reports, and dated where they appear. Traveller feedback reviewed: more than 3,100 verified reviews across the six listings, plus the platform's own sub-scores for guide, transport and value for money.
Where an operator's own listing contradicts its title, as with the bat cave named in one product title but absent from its published itinerary, we say so rather than repeat the title.
What we do not do
We do not drive the track, ride the tours, meet the guides or inspect the vehicles. Judging whether a particular 4x4 has working air conditioning in June, or whether the last wadi is passable after rain, takes someone who was there that week — that is the operator's job and the platform's review system's job.
We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs.
How the site pays for itself
Links to tours on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going there directly.
That arrangement pays for the research and nothing else. It does not decide which tours appear, what order they sit in, or what we say about them. The two cheapest listings on the homepage earn us the least, and one of them is the trip we point most visitors towards.
Corrections
Prices move, operators change their meeting points, and desert tracks change after rain. If something here is out of date, write to us and tell us what you found and when you were there. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
